Interview with a Sony Partner: Shelfy

Tell us about yourself. Where are you from?

I was born in Philadelphia way back in 1992. I currently live in Delaware and have since I was about 13. My dad got a promotion at his job right before I started high school so we moved about 40 minutes outside of South Philly where I grew up.

What do you do for a living?

I am a full-time content creator. I originally went to college to pursue sports journalism but lost a passion for it after school. I was working 2 jobs including a part-time job writing fantasy basketball articles when I was introduced to Streaming back in 2015. As soon as I got into it I knew this is what I wanted to do. After about two years of streaming and posting videos just for fun, I was able to really commit my time to make it work and it led to so many great opportunities. I’ve traveled the world in the last few years as a result of pursuing this passion. I’ve got this great partnership with MLB The Show and I’ve also had the pleasure of working with Major League baseball as a co-host and color commentator for shows at All-Star weekend, Little League World Series and the Japan All-Star Series.

What’s your favorite Baseball Team?

The Philadelphia Phillies. I’m a huge Philadelphia sports fan. Growing up in Philly, sports were just a part of life. My dad would put the game on each night after dinner. Sundays it was the Eagles, all summer it was the Phillies and in the Winter months, we watched the Sixers/Flyers. I have a special bond with my dad through sports so I’m extremely passionate about it.

My favorite Phillies memory was the '08 World Series run.  My dad made a bet with me that if they won it all I could skip school and go to the parade. It ended up being on a Friday. I'll never forget it. Seeing Philly win the World Series and win the Super Bowl are tied for my favorite sports memory.

I actually had a chance to go see the Eagles play the Patriots in the Super Bowl a few years ago, but I turned down box seats to stay home and watch it on TV with my dad.

What’s your favorite player over the years you've played of MLB The Show?

Charlie Blackmon and it’s not even close! CHUCK NASTY! Back in MLB 16 and 17, he was just insane. He’s regressed a bit the last 2 years but he can still destroy right-handed pitching at the least. Plus he just has a fantastic beard.

How many hours a week do you play MLB The Show?

I play about 2-3 hours a day. I spend most of my time editing and answering emails but when I’m not handling things behind the scenes I’m playing Diamond Dynasty. Making videos or streaming on Twitch. So I would say about 24-30 hours per week of actual gameplay.

Where’s the best place to find your content?

You can find me on youtube @Shelfy or on Twitch @Realshelfy. I will be live this Thursday, Friday and Saturday (May 9-11) playing with my new Shelfy moments Diamond reward card.
